About

Founded in 2022, the LSM HOPE Foundation’s mission is to provide resources, services, and support to individuals in need of assistance to thrive and survive, with a vision of creating opportunities for disabled and at-risk populations to improve their quality of life. Its purpose is to increase access to education and other resources to help those in need live the best life possible.

Scholarship Description

The LSM HOPE Foundation $1000 and $500 scholarships honor the legacy of Leroy S. McCoy Sr., whose life was dedicated to helping his family and others. He had a passion for helping his family and others, especially families, children, the elderly and anyone in need. Our desire is to use him as an example to impact the community in a positive way.

Who Can Apply?

High school seniors who plan to enroll in institutions of higher learning in the current academic year are encouraged to apply based upon the criteria
listed below.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicant must be a high school graduate in current academic year.
  2. Applicant must be experiencing financial difficulty or hardship.
  3. Applicant must have a special need or circumstance
  4. Applicant must have recent community involvement
  5. Applicant must include the following documents: Application, Typed Essay, Copy of High School Transcript, Copy of SAT or ACT score, and at least two reference letters (Academic, Professional, or Character).
  6. Applicant must complete the application and submit transcript, SAT or ACT score and essay to dmccoy.lsmhope@gmail.com by June 1, 2026 no later than 5:00 PM.

Criteria for Selection Include:

  1. Scholastic ability: Copy of SAT or ACT scores and high school transcript
  2. Complete Application
  3. Typed essay: Theme “Based on your life experiences, If you could start your own charity, what would your mission be and why?  Who would you serve?  What kinds of acts of service would volunteers perform?”
